About Us

Bloomlier began in a small garden in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, where a single rooted dahlia cutting unfurled into a bloom that stopped the street. That moment — simple, stubborn, and quietly transformative — still guides everything we do. Today we grow on named, rare dahlia varieties and ship the tubers to gardeners and collectors across Europe, combining Dutch horticultural craft with a love for varieties that perform equally well in the garden and the vase.

What we do

We grow dahlia tubers — the dormant, energy-storing roots that gardeners plant in spring. We specialise in named, sought-after varieties: our own KA (Kristen Albrech) and RM (River Merle) series, Levi’s line, and well-loved Bloomquist and Ferncliff varieties. Our focus is on supplying gardeners, florists, and collectors with dependable, true-to-variety tubers that flower reliably in their first season.

Every autumn and winter, we lift, cure, and ship our dahlia tubers directly to your door — grown here in Apeldoorn using organic, regenerative methods.

Our philosophy

We select varieties that earn their place both as cut flowers and as garden plants. In the Netherlands — where horticulture is both craft and culture — we choose by performance, not just pedigree: strong stems, generous heads, and colours that read well from the canal-side to the kitchen table. 

How we propagate and ensure quality

Tubers are lifted from healthy mother plants each autumn, divided by hand, and checked for firm skin, a visible eye, and no sign of disease such as gall or viral issues. Only sound, viable tubers go into winter storage — and only those still in good condition at shipping time go out the door.

Ordering & delivery

Our varieties with the most tuber stock open for pre-order first, shipping from November. Rarer varieties are lifted in October and typically ship in November or early December. The rest of the catalogue ships once winter weather allows — usually late February to early March. We ship across the EU, excluding the UK.

Our promise and practical note

We stand behind every tuber we send. That said, photos on our website show a variety at its best — tuber size and eye count can vary naturally between plants. If a tuber arrives damaged or fails to sprout despite following our care guidelines, contact us and we’ll offer troubleshooting, a replacement, or a refund according to our guarantee.
