Smoky Butter Fading to Pink
Smashing Pastellica is one of those varieties that’s hard to describe accurately until you’ve seen it in person — the colour genuinely doesn’t look like much else in the patch.
It opens a smoky, almost dusty butter-yellow and shifts into pastel pink as the bloom matures, giving it a soft, faded, almost antique quality rather than a bright or saturated one.
The plant itself is compact and sturdy, and it flowers very freely — bred by Sofia Lundberg of Smashing Dahlias in Sweden, it’s built to produce.
A quietly unusual colour for anyone who wants something that doesn’t look like every other dahlia in the garden.
A few growing notes:
- Height: compact — expect a bushier, more contained plant than many decoratives
- Bloom size: medium decorative bloom
- Full sun, well-drained soil
