Lavender Fading to Cream
There’s a particular kind of dahlia that photographs differently every time you point a camera at it, and Bloomquist Jody Lynn is one of them.
It’s a lavender-purple bloom that softens toward the edges into cream and white, so each flower reads as a gentle gradient rather than a flat colour. The form is fuller and rounder than a lot of decoratives, which gives it a tidy, ball-like presence in a bouquet.
It’s a strong, generous bloomer through the season, on stems sturdy enough to hold their own in a mixed vase. There’s also a nice story behind the name — it was bred by Paul Bloomquist and named in memory of a friend’s late daughter, which is part of why we like growing it.
A soft, romantic addition if your palette leans toward lavender and blush.

- Bloom size: around 10–13 cm
- Full sun, well-drained soil
